MicroLock is a dependable microphone connector that offers reliability, durability and robustness, ensuring that sound professionals can trust their equipment in any situation. It allows you to use your microphones with different brands of transmitters, so you don’t have to buy a new mic for each system. In other words, you are no longer bound to one wireless system.
MicroLock offers:
- Flexibility – cost-effective and compatible with many wireless systems via adaptors
- Reliability – secure locking and stable connection reduces the risk of accidental disconnections
- Durability – robust, reliable and designed to withstand the long-term everyday use
- Compact – perfect when space is limited
MicroLock is fully backwards compatible with the MicroDot connector. This means that MicroLock parts can be assembled with MicroDot parts and function as if they were of MicroDot type.
Please note that the locking function is only available if both the male and female parts are MicroLock.
Using MicroLock
You connect MicroLock in the exact same way as if it were a MicroDot. The only difference is that you do not need to screw it all the way in – the connection is secure, and the connector is considered assembled as soon as you hear the clicking sound or feel the tactile feedback. The clicking sound is produced by the locking teeth being pressed together by the spring, ensuring that the connector does not loosen unintentionally until you actively unscrew it.
When you need to disconnect MicroLock, you pull the sleeve back slightly (0.5 mm) to compress the spring that locks the teeth, releasing the lock, and then unscrew the connection as you normally would with a MicroDot.
What’s the difference?
The primary difference between MicroLock and MicroDot is the locking mechanism, which adds an extra layer of security and protects the connection from any accidental disconnection during use.
MicroLock is slightly larger in diameter than MicroDot (Ø 6.6 mm / 0.26 in vs Ø 5.6 mm/ 0.22 in). In addition, the insulator color inside the connector has been changed from red in MicroDot to DPA green in MicroLock to ensure quick recognition.
